Ukraine will try to obtain compensation, amounting to 12 billion dollars, if Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be launched, Chief Commercial Officer of Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC Yuri Vitrichenko told Channel 5, liga.net reports.
Replying the question whether Ukraine has a plan B in case if Nord Stream-2 will be launched, Vitrenko responded: “Yes, we submitted a respective claim to the arbitration – these are 12 billion dollars. This is the amount, which corresponds to the compensation of Ukraine’s losses, if Nord-Stream2 is built and Ukrainian GTS capacities will be applied”.
Vitrenko emphasized that Ukraine can now demand the revision of rates.
“We exactly do it, on the one hand. On the other hand, the European rules of this rate are established. And they permit to accordingly produce effect from non-application of Ukrainian GTS after 2019”, he said.
It was previously reported that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that jointly with allies, it will be possible to stop the construction of Nord Stream-2.
