Successful Ukraine represents the best protection against Russian aggression in Europe, Correspondent.net reports.

The nominee for the position of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine Mary Yovanovitch said during the hearing in the Senate regarding its future appointment that she is impressed by the progress, which Ukraine achieved in implementation of reforms in recent times, Ukrinform reports.

“Ukraine made more progress in implementation of reforms for the last two years, than for all 23 years of independence. And I share special optimism regarding trajectory of reforms in Ukraine this year, taking into account several key achievements from the moment of reforming of the coalition and government in April”, Yovanovitch noted.

Therefore, she specified that by overwhelming majority Ukraine approved constitutional amendments, aimed at strengthening independence of judicial system; raised energy tariffs to 100% from market rates with ahead of IMF schedule and replaced the General Prosecutor, who lost trust of civil community.

“These achievements in reforms are more impressive, taking into account that they were implemented within conditions of Russian aggression”, the diplomat emphasized.

She is also convinced that successful Ukraine represents the best protection against Russian aggression in Europe.

Previously the White House informed about the official nomination of Diplomat Mary Yovanovitch for the post of US Ambassador to Kyiv. The acting ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt will be transferred to Greece.
