The Ukrainian ambassador has criticized Germany for the position on Minsk agreements.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany rejects criticism from Ukrainian ambassador Andrei Melnyk regarding the Berlin’s position on the settlement of Donbass conflict at negotiations, Correspondent reports.
Previously Melnyk stated that the signals of conciliation of Berlin in Moscow are “perceived as weakness”. According to him, German government puts pressure on Ukraine and shifts responsibility for frustration of realization of Minsk agreements.
“That’s out of question that Berlin somehow panders to Moscow”, the representative of German Foreign Service Martin Schaefer said on Friday, on March 11.
According to him, amid the ordinary negotiations in Paris in early March, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier spoke out “sensibly” about lack of progress in realization of Minsk agreements.
“He in no case made difference between those on Moscow and those in Kyiv, who until this moment are not ready for necessary political steps to agree to a compromise”, noted the representative of the department.
Kremlin: Both parties violate ceasefire in Donbass.
Chairman of German-Ukrainian Interparliamentary Group Karl-Georg Wellmann also responded critically to Melnyk’s claims. He noted that he understands “the worries of Ukrainian ambassador and his emotions”.
“But I can’t confirm the fact that we pander to Russia. Just on the contrary. Thanks to efforts of German government and Chancellor, the conflict in the east of Ukraine is frozen”, the politician emphasized.
He reminded that the position of the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel consists in that the sanctions against Russia can be cancelled only after the full realization of Minsk agreements.
“But Russia does not fulfill them. It did not perform first three points. The firing isn’t still over. OSCE is not provided with free access. The heavy armament has not been withdrawn. This is what separatists are guilty of”, the German parliamentarian added.
Ukraine does not fulfill its obligations either.
